The process for guests from Stöttwang
Many first-time guests from Stöttwang underestimate how uncomplicated a session is. No long preparation, no wet towel, no warm-up phase: you go in dry and come out dry. Here's what the process looks like in detail.
Arrival & briefing
We calmly explain the process and answer all your questions before your first session.
Getting ready
Swimwear, hat, gloves, socks and a face mask – your skin stays dry and free of creams.
3 minutes at -110 °C
Dry cold down to -110 °C, evenly distributed by our eddy-current cooling (Cyclon).
Step out & feel it
Warmth, tingling, freshness: many feel the effect right after the very first session.
-110 °C
03:00 MIN
Good to know
Session lasting 3 minutes of dry cold at -110°C.
The difference: whole-body cryotherapy with eddy-current cooling (Cyclon) that circulates the cold air evenly around the body.
The cold penetrates about 1mm into the skin and stimulates the nerve endings – including the vagus nerve, which runs along the cervical spine, is positively stimulated by the cold.
The stimulus on the skin travels to the brain and can trigger the positive effects.
Dry cold in general triggers the release of adrenaline and the happiness hormone dopamine, as well as corticoids, for regeneration.
Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides can gradually normalize.
Even after the very first session you feel better, more at ease – a true mood booster. Already inside the cold chamber you can sense something happening in your body, and afterwards you feel reborn – an indescribable tingling on the skin, a feeling of warmth and a wonderful sense of relaxation follow.
You are professionally supervised throughout the session: we discuss your health situation beforehand, explain the process and stay in visual and verbal contact. We recommend 2–3 sessions per week.
Focus: Stress & Sleep
Constant stress keeps the body on high alert. The cold chamber radically interrupts that pattern: three minutes at -110 °C demand full attention, followed by a deep relaxation that many describe as a "reset". The release of endorphins noticeably lifts mood, while many guests from Stöttwang report calmer, deeper sleep the night after. Please note: we cannot promise any cure – every body responds differently to cold therapy. Results also depend on regular sessions of at least 2–3 times a week over a longer period.

You can find all effects in detail on the page Effects – the process is described under How It Works .
Your visit
We schedule every appointment so that you can arrive calmly. On a first visit we take extra time for a short conversation, answer open questions and show you the chamber before you step in. You then decide whether to use the full three minutes.
During the session one of us stays in visual contact and talks to you through the intercom. Afterwards we recommend movement – a few minutes on the bike or a short walk is enough to get your circulation going again.
Arriving
About ten minutes early – changing room, short briefing, questions answered.
In the chamber
Up to three minutes, stoppable at any time, always supervised.
Afterwards
Movement, a warm drink and a short chat about how it felt.

In winter, the cold chamber is mainly immune and mood training for guests from Stöttwang, while in summer it's a recovery tool after cycling, running and hiking trips. The cold stimulus itself stays identical all year round: -110 °C, dry, three minutes.
Ice bath, cold shower or cold chamber? Water conducts heat roughly 25 times faster than air – an ice bath at 4 °C therefore feels harsher than -110 °C dry air. The key difference for guests from Stöttwang: in the chamber, only the outermost layer of skin is cooled extremely, while the body's core stays warm. That makes the session safe, short and noticeably more pleasant than jumping into the river Iller.

Three minutes at -110 °C act like a turbo boost for recovery: the extreme dry cold constricts blood vessels, reduces signal transmission in the pain fibres and slows inflammatory processes after intense exertion. Once you step out, the vessels widen again and oxygen-rich blood floods the worked muscles.
