You will then change into the provided attire: shorts (for men) or shorts and a top (for women), along with thick socks, clogs, gloves, a headband to cover your ears, and a mask to warm the air you breathe. Your skin must be completely dry.
The experience itself involves two stages. First, you will spend about 30 seconds in a pre-chamber set to around -60 °C. This helps your body acclimatise. Then, you step into the main chamber, where the air is a dry, crisp -110 °C. The cold is intense but not painful like plunging into ice water. It is a unique, tingling sensation on your skin. During your three minutes inside, you will walk slowly in a circle. Our trained staff are with you the entire time, speaking to you through an intercom and observing you through a large window.

What do I need to bring for my session?
You do not need to bring much. We provide the necessary protective gear, including gloves, socks, clogs, and a headband. You should wear or bring your own simple cotton undergarments or swimwear to wear in the chamber. Ensure your skin is completely dry, with no lotions or oils applied beforehand.
Is there a risk the cold could damage my skin, which is already sensitive?
The risk is very low when procedures are followed correctly. The exposure is very short, and the air is dry, which prevents the skin from freezing. Meticulous skin care is a core part of lymphoedema management, and you should ensure there are no open cuts or wounds on your skin before a session. We will always inspect the skin on the affected limb as part of our pre-session check.
